I saw an interview of the Indonesian president on youtube. I think the interviewer was an Australian woman.. At one point, the woman brought out that Widodo was in discussions with other countries to free Indonesian citizens from the death penalty in those other countries; she wondered if he didn’t see the mismatched thinking. He mainly said he had a right to do it.
He clearly had the political right to do it. That’s what separates him from other serial killers.
Well, I also mean he was saying he has a right to ask for the lives of Indonesians convicted of crimes in other countries. Don’t ask him to make consistent sense.
It is interesting that Australia doesn’t have the death penalty for anything any more. (And these two men were from Australia, so Australia has been consistent.)
