The more things change…

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

A horrible and shocking thing
has happened in the land:

the prophets prophesy lies,
the priests rule by their own authority,
and my people love it this way.
But what will you do in the end?

How many thousands of years ago were those words spoken and written?

Are things any different today?

Some Christian teachers broadcast blatant lies and somehow they are still able to gather followers who love what they are giving.

As Paul warned the Thessalonians, “Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.”

Often that’s not so hard to do, and yet the unwary allow themselves to be deceived.

At the heart of this matter is our personal desire for the truth. If we genuinely love and desire the truth, we won’t fall for lies so easily.

People are expressing that we are depressed and experiencing PTSD (some of us).

    AMEN and AMEN, Tim !

I couldn’t have said it better. Jesus said God’s word is Truth (John 17:17). God’s word in Jeremiah 5 remains Truth today. And hearing what God says all comes down to our love of Truth.

I’m not sure I can keep up with these blogs 🙂

‘Coincidentally’ (not) – this is a part of a comment I left on Bill Randles blog:

” ….Way back at the beginning of this current campaign – there were three: Cruz, Clinton and Trump. All three were prayed and prophesied over, (and anointed) by ‘christians’ who supported their candidate – in each case prophecies were given saying that their candidate would be the next president, and that he/she was chosen and anointed by God.

In the final outcome, two of those groups will be seen as false prophets. I look forward to their repentance – which should be as public as their initial declaration….”

Marleen – I replied to your question on Bills blog with this (you may/may not have seen it there)

“..Back then, I did have 3 links to the most relevant of these ‘anointings’ – can’t find them now.

However, I have today performed 3 separate Google searches under: ‘Ted Cruz anointed’, ‘Pastors anoint Hillary Clinton’, and ‘Donald Trump is anointed by God’ and came up with a number of linked articles and videos, from approx Feb. 2016.

I continue to receive newsletters explaining why Trump is anointed of God to be potus, and, insisting that he will make the USA great again.

This is my real concern – many are looking at a future ‘greatness’ of the USA, when the Will of our Heavenly Father may be the opposite, to bring individuals to repentance…”

Hope you don’t mind my reposting here Tim..? Your OP ancient words from scripture are still being fulfilled 😦

I’m not sure I can keep up either Roger.

One thing this American Election has made me aware of is the ease by which many Christians can get caught up by secular political candidates and their rhetoric, and become willing to swallow lies (and promote them). That doesn’t bode well for many Christians when the anti-Christ starts to make his move. I can see that countless numbers of professing Christians will fall for his deception. And I mean those who KNOW the gospel and have responded to it – and have maybe spent most of their lives deeply involved in Christian activities.
If they can accept and endorse manipulative and deceptive techniques such as those I addressed in a recent blog post, they will easily fall for other such deceptions.

If we get, for our next president, that guy who says he will make “America great again,” it won’t be great. But do you think those people who thought he would make it great will repent? Very few, if any.

It seems that we 4 here, at the very least, are in agreement Tim.. 🙂

I note (with amazement) that some comments on Bills blog continue to express reasons why those individuals WILL vote – even given the ungodly nature of the one they will vote for.

Bills latest blog series refers to Psalm 1 and 2, with this introduction:
“..Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night…”

I am yet again reminded of Pauls words teaching, and warning, on the delusion that is from God – which is perhaps what you refer to..?

“…. And because of this, God will send to them a working of error, for them to believe the lie, that all may be judged, those not believing the truth, but who have delighted in unrighteousness….”

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful

Roger there’s more than a hint of irony in Bill’s blog referring to that Psalm in one post while in another he refers readers to a video that uses lies to promote the agenda of Donald Trump.

    Sadly, yes.

Hi Marleen, in part I’d like Trump to win so his supporters will see what they’ve voted into being and they’ll have to face the consequences of their actions.

Even if Clinton is voted into the presidency it will be impossible for her to win. She’ll face the same kind of hatred and lies that Obama has been subjected to for the last 8 years, and “evangelicals” continuing that for at least another 4 years won’t be good for anyone.
If 8 years of Obama hatred has given America Trump as a favoured candidate (as I believe it has) then what will be ahead if that’s followed by another 4 years of “evangelical” lies and hate?

“For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?:

    http://www.businessinsider.com/donald-trump-2013-borders-global-economy-2016-10
In 2013, Donald Trump said we need to be borderless, global, in our economy.

Instead of Mexico paying for a wall, Trump wants us (the U.S.) to pay and look for reimbursement.

This last link is to a video. This person likes to be dramatic. But he is also sharing some facts.
