For our Pesach lamb, the Messiah, has been sacrificed

Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
stricken by him, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to our own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.

  1. This was referenced from John 13, which came to my mind this morning: a Psalm [ NIV ].

    Blessed are those who have regard for the weak;
    the LORD delivers them in times of trouble.

    The LORD protects and preserves them —
    they are counted among the blessed in the land —
    he does not give them over to the desire of their foes.

    . . . .

    My enemies say of me in malice, “When will he die and his name perish?”

    When one of them comes to see me, he speaks falsely,
    while his heart gathers slander;
    then he goes out and spreads it around.

    . . . .

    [ Verse 9 ] Even my close friend, someone I trusted, one who shared my bread, has turned against me.

  2. Ah: that’s (v. 18) not what “came to my mind this morning.” What that was was verse 35.

    By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

    But reading the chapter was significant; I came across verse 17.

    Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.
